Online-Event via Zoom

The Metaverse is a hot topic in the media and is both euphorically celebrated and dismissed as mere hype. In this XRB Meetup we want to give an understandable introduction to the Metaverse.

Our guests for the evening are:

Collin Croome

  • Metaverse and marketing expert

In his lecture Collin Croome will give insights into the manifold possibilities of the Metaverse and show why companies and decision makers should already deal with the Metaverse and Web3 today.

We will learn by means of vivid examples how fast the Metaverse is developing and how the “new” Internet can soon be integrated into our professional and private everyday life.

The metaverse and marketing expert shows us what is already possible today and ventures an outlook into the next 5-10 years.

Martin Rieger from VRTonung

  • 3D audio and immersive sound expert

How does a concert work in the metaverse? There are more and more attempts to reproduce concerts in metaverse. But how close are you really to your stars?

The potential to create one’s own reality is used frighteningly seldom, and real life is stupendously recreated. Martin reports on how the whole thing sounds and presents various use cases.

Here is a small foretaste

Prof Dr Philipp Rauschnabel

Prof Dr Philipp A. Rauschnabel is Professor of Digital Marketing and Media Innovation at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, an associate researcher at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg and an XR lecturer at institutions in Germany and abroad.

Since 2014, he has been researching how XR affects people and what potential and risks are associated with it. In terms of citations, he is now one of the most influential scientists in this field.

As a speaker and scientific advisor at XR Bayern e.V., he is keen to translate complex empirical research into practice and contrast facts with prevailing opinions – for example in relation to the metaverse.

Unlocking the Potential of Spatial Sound in Game Audio and Sound Designer

This is what you missed:

Introduction to 3D Audio and Its Impact on Immersive Media

The world of 3D audio is evolving rapidly, transforming the way we experience sound in games, feature films, and immersive media.

With advancements in spatial audio and technologies like Dolby Atmos, sound designers now have the ability to create deeply engaging and realistic soundscapes.

This 3D audio online course explores the fundamentals of game audio, offering insights into how sound engineers, music producers, and game developers can integrate advanced audio production techniques into their projects.

The Role of Spatial Audio in Game Audio and Sound Design

In the video game industry, sound design plays a crucial role in shaping player experiences. Whether it’s implementing audio in mobile games, crafting immersive game audio environments, or enhancing augmented reality applications, understanding spatial audio is key.

Unlike traditional stereo mixes, Dolby Atmos allows audio professionals to position sounds in a three-dimensional space, creating realistic environments where players can hear sounds coming from all directions.

The course covers how sound designers use digital audio workstations (DAWs) to create and mix immersive music and sound effects that respond dynamically to player movement.

The importance of binaural audio, headphones, and head-tracking technology in creating lifelike audio environments is also explored, offering students an opportunity to capture spatial audio and experiment with new techniques.

Tools and Techniques for Implementing 3D Audio

Mastering 3D audio requires the right combination of software, techniques, and technology. This course introduces students to industry-standard tools such as Unreal Engine and other game engines used in game audio production.

Through hands-on sessions, participants will learn how to create high-quality audio for interactive experiences, using techniques such as Dolby Atmos workflow and re-recording engineering to achieve professional-grade sound.

Additionally, the course delves into post-production workflows, demonstrating how quality control in sound design ensures an optimal listening experience across different platforms.

From pre-production planning to final mixing, students will gain the necessary skills to enhance audio playback and optimize sound effects for different environments.

Future Possibilities in Immersive Audio

The future of immersive audio extends beyond games and films, with applications in augmented reality, interactive experiences, and even music production.

As technology continues to advance, sound designers and audio directors will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of immersive media.

Whether you are a music producer, a sound engineer, or someone looking to break into the game industry, this 3D audio online course provides a strong foundation in sound design, helping you develop a demo reel and gain knowledge that will be invaluable in future projects.

With a focus on both theory and practical application, this course is designed to give students the expertise they need to succeed in the evolving world of spatial audio.
